The province of Chiang Mai, in collaboration with the Pakhee network and LGBTQ+ diversity groups, is organizing the Chiang Mai Colourful Pride Month 2024 event to kick off the celebration season for Thailand's Pride Month 2024. The event will feature a parade starting from the Buddhist temple, moving through Tha Phae Road to Tha Phae Gate for the opening ceremony and various celebratory activities. These include concerts, Rainbow Dance performances, the Colourful Contest with prizes worth over 15,000 baht, and numerous other Pride-related activities throughout the month. This event reflects the vibrant and diverse nature of Chiang Mai, encompassing diversity in gender, ethnicity, and age. The Pride Parade, which begins before any other in the country, is a highlight.

The Chiang Mai Colourful Pride Month 2024 event is scheduled to take place from May 26th to June 30th, 2567 (Buddhist calendar), and it holds special significance as it marks the beginning of Thailand's Pride season to celebrate along with Pride Month worldwide. It aims to promote gender equality and social acceptance in today's society and stimulate tourism, expected to contribute over 7.5 billion baht to the economy.

Furthermore, Chiang Mai plans to establish City Branding through the concept of a year-round tourism calendar, "Chiang Mai 12 Months 12 Themes," with the Chiang Mai Pride Festival as the main event in June. This initiative aims to position Chiang Mai as a destination for business and high-quality tourism, offering visitors opportunities to experience various events and festivals throughout the year.
